Youth Introduction to Tennis Instructor

We have a part-time seasonal position available as a Youth “Introduction to Tennis” Instructor at Hammond Park 6005 Glenridge Drive Sandy Springs GA.

We offer youth classes/camps for ages 5-14 during the spring, summer and fall. Classes in the spring will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6:00 pm beginning March 23. Summer camps will be Mondays-Fridays 9:00 am-12:00 noon throughout the summer. Fall classes would begin the first week of September and also be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The pay is set at $10/hour in order for us to keep the costs down for the participants however the individual would be on a contract which means no deductions (state/fed taxes, FICA etc.) are taken out in the hourly pay. The City will send the contractor a 1099 for the 2010 tax year.

The ideal instructor meets the following criteria:

Responsible – arrives on time to each session, can handle a group of 10 or more children, keeps accurate attendance, communicates well with recreation staff, etc.

Professional – neat in appearance, friendly and courteous with participants, parents, recreation staff and general public.

Enthusiastic – Must enjoy young kids, be able to connect with all age kids (5-7, 8-10 and 11-14.) Must make the Introduction to Tennis class the best 55 minutes of their week, etc.

Tennis – no official tennis certification is required. However, previous experience working with children and having some familiarity with the game either as a player or coach is a must.

In addition to the above, successful candidate must pass a Child Abuse History Clearance and Background Check.
